# Frontend Development

Routes are in `frontend/src/routes/index.ts`.

Workspaces are in `frontend/src/features/`.

Validate:

```bash
cd <repo-root>/frontend
npm exec tsc -- --noEmit
node node_modules/vite/bin/vite.js build
```

## Structure

Important folders:

* `frontend/src/features/` for workspace-level UI;
* `frontend/src/components/` for shared UI atoms;
* `frontend/src/hooks/` for query/mutation and reusable state hooks;
* `frontend/src/providers/` for app-wide providers;
* `frontend/src/styles/` for layered global CSS;
* `frontend/src/api/client.ts` for API types and wrappers.

## Routing

NetMap does not use `react-router`. Routes are string values in `frontend/src/routes/index.ts`. Add new routes there so navigation, document titles, and route metadata stay consistent.

## Styling

Before changing UI styles, read:

* `docs/UI_THEME_RULES.md`;
* `docs/design-system-preview.html`.

Prefer existing `nm-*` classes for buttons, panels, tables, forms, and toolbar patterns.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.netmap.dev/development/frontend-development.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
